The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is the USMC's standard fitness assessment. It consists of pull-ups (or push-ups), abdominal crunches (or plank hold), and a 3-mile run. Scoring is based on age and gender with a maximum of 300 points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Third class minimum is 150 points total with minimum scores in each event. Below 150 is failing.

Pull-ups offer higher maximum points (100 vs. 70 for push-ups). If you can do 5+ pull-ups, they generally yield better scores.
