How to Create a PDF Contact Sheet

  • Upload the PDF you want a visual overview of.
  • Choose a grid layout (2×2, 3×3, or 4×4) to control how many thumbnails appear per row.
  • Click Generate Contact Sheet — every page is rendered as a thumbnail with its page number below it, arranged in the selected grid.
  • Preview the result and click Download Contact Sheet to save it as a PNG image.

Example

A 12-page PDF in a 3×3 grid produces a single image showing all 12 pages across 4 rows, each labelled with its page number. This gives you a quick visual index of the entire document — perfect for presentations, archives, or sharing a preview without sending the full file.

Common Use Cases

  • Creating a visual overview of a multi-page PDF for a portfolio, archive, or presentation.
  • Generating a thumbnail index to quickly scan a document without opening every page.
  • Building a contact sheet image for document management, record-keeping, or client previews.

FAQ

  • How many pages can it handle? The tool renders every page, so very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) may take longer and produce a very large image. For documents over ~100 pages, the sheet will still be generated but may be slow.
  • What resolution are the thumbnails? Each thumbnail is rendered at 200 px wide with the aspect ratio preserved, scaled proportionally from the original page dimensions.
  • Is my file uploaded anywhere? No — rendering happens entirely in your browser; the PDF never leaves your device.
