How to use?
Select the steel type (Mild Steel or Stainless Steel) and shape, then enter dimensions in meters. Weight equals volume multiplied by density (MS: 7850 kg/m³, SS: 8000 kg/m³).
Example
A 1 m long, 5 cm × 5 cm MS bar: volume = 1 × 0.05 × 0.05 = 0.0025 m³, weight = 0.0025 × 7850 ≈ 19.6 kg.
FAQs
- Why do MS and SS weights differ? Stainless steel is slightly denser (8000 vs 7850 kg/m³), so the same volume weighs a little more.
- Are dimensions in meters? Yes — enter all lengths in meters (e.g. 5 cm = 0.05 m) for accurate results.
Common Use Cases
- Estimating material weight for fabrication and shipping.
- Procurement and cost estimation.
- Structural load planning.
