What is simple interest?
Simple interest is calculated only on the original principal amount, for the entire duration of the loan or investment — unlike compound interest, it never earns "interest on interest" along the way. It's commonly used for short-term loans, certain fixed deposits, and some auto loans.
Formula

Where P is the principal, R is the annual interest rate (%), and T is the time period in years.
